Hockey Night in Canada Commentator and NHL Goaltender
Hrudey earned his stripes as a hockey commentator the hard way: stopping the blistering shots of the NHL’s biggest stars. In his fifteen-year career as a goaltender for the New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks, he compiled an impressive winning record and a goals against average of 3.43, and 16 shutouts. In his broadcasting career, he continues to excel, providing hockey fans with some of the most incisive, level-headed, well researched and accurate commentary available. Hrudey became a full-time Hockey Night in Canada analyst during the 1998-99 season; during the 1999 NHL playoffs, his popular segment “Behind the Mask” became a regular feature. He also co-hosts the popular After Hours, an interactive show running after the Saturday night game that is becoming a must-see fix for those wanting more Hockey Night in Canada. During the season, Hrudey also writes a weekly column in the Calgary Sun.
