FRANCES HORIBE
Ms Frances Horibe is the
best-selling author of Managing Knowledge Workers: New Skills and Attitudes to Unlock the
Intellectual Capital in Your Organization published in Canada, the U.S., Australia, Great
Britain and Asia by John Wiley and Sons (also available in Spanish, Chinese and
Norwegian). Her current book, Creating the Innovation Culture: Leveraging Visionaries,
Dissenters and Other Useful Troublemakers In Your Organization (2001) is translated into
Arabic. She speaks and consults frequently with a wide variety of clients, both nationally
and internationally.
She was Vice-President of Quality and Customer Care for Achieve
International, a management consulting firm. Achieve's clients included American Express,
Black and Decker, and University of Alberta Hospitals.
Other positions include Director-General, Strategic Planning &
International Marketing for Transport Canada where she was tasked with restructuring,
downsizing and revitalizing an organization with large headquarters and regional staffs.
She was responsible for change management, internal communications, human resource
planning and selling Transport Canada's technical expertise overseas.
Ms Horibe has been an examiner for the Canada Awards for
Excellence and is an examiner for IBM's T.J. Watson Award of Excellence. She is also a
regular guest columnist for the Canadian HR Reporter. She has a B.A. in Psychology from
McGill University and an M.A. in Psychology from University of Western Ontario.
